What we collect and why
Server logs
Like every web server, ours notes each request: your IP address, the time, the page, your browser (user agent) and the page you came from. We use this to keep the site secure and to fix problems (legitimate interest). The logs are deleted after 7 days.
Each night we make visitor statistics from these logs, for ourselves only: visitors, pages, countries and search engines. In those statistics IP addresses are anonymized.
Open Graph checker
When you check a page with the Open Graph checker, our server fetches that page and its share image. The site you check sees our server, not you. We note the time, the address you checked, the result and your IP address with the last part set to zero (86.84.146.100 becomes 86.84.146.0), so you cannot be identified. We use this to improve the tool and to stop abuse, and keep it for 12 months.
What is my IP
What is my IP shows you the details your browser sends to every website. We note the time, your IP address with the last part set to zero, the country, your browser and whether you used the page, the text or the JSON version, and keep that for 12 months. Your screen, window size and time zone are worked out in your browser and are not sent to us.
The country comes from the DB-IP database on our own server: your address is not sent anywhere else.
Limiting heavy use
To stop one address from overloading the tools, the server briefly keeps a coded (hashed) version of your IP address with the times of your last requests. It is only used for the last few minutes.
When you e-mail us, we keep your message and e-mail address to answer you and, if you become a customer, for as long as we work together.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies: no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no tracking scripts from other companies.
Who receives your data
We do not sell or share your data. Our servers are in the Netherlands, at TransIP.
Changes
When we change this statement, we publish the new version on this page with a new date at the top.
